If you live in New York or happen to be there during the month of October, this is a must do, especially if you’re a film fanatic or art lover.
The upcoming exhibition “Spike Lee: Creative Sources” is set to open its doors to the public on October 7. Showcasing the personal collection of renowned American filmmaker and director, Spike Lee, this immersive installation promises to provide visitors with a unique glimpse into the sources of inspiration that have fueled his creative output.
Curated by Kimberli Gant, the exhibition delves into the various throughlines of Lee’s life and oeuvre, including Black history and culture, Brooklyn, sports, music, cinema history, and family. With more than 350 works on display, visitors can expect to see artworks by prominent Black American artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Deborah Roberts, and Michael Ray Charles. Additionally, the exhibition will feature instruments once owned by legendary musicians, historical and contemporary photographs, sports and movie memorabilia, and much more. Together, these elements aim to reveal the connections among the people, places, and ideas that have fueled Lee’s incisive storytelling.
